The Board and senior management recently researched the possibility of the need for a major refurbishment of the entire facility and to do it over a staged program across a number of financial years. After a great deal of consideration it was decided to divide the facility into three stages with the first stage being a new 1(a) Kitchen, 1(b)Administration and the addition of a Coffee Shop and outdoor seating area, 1(c) a completely new Activities Centre, 1 (d) an extended and much improved Dining room and Alfresco area. The proposed work for Stage 1 was tendered and commenced in August 2015 with the completion of stage 1(a) due in December 2015. Stage 1(b) will commence by mid-January with all stages in stage 1 completed around the middle of 2016.

Stage 2 of the refurbishment project will be the demolition and rebuilding of one wing of the Special Care Unit known as Rotary, a refit of Caffrey Family units and Waratah Unit. This refit will include a covered walkway to join the two separate buildings that incorporates a new larger nurses station between the two buildings. Other considerations will be a Palliative Care area and additional storage.

Stage 3 will be the refurbishment of the remaining units (known as Low Care) where the “Eden Concept” of street scape and shop fronts that connects several units via an undercover walkway. This vision will well and truly put Princes Court Homes into the next century in a manner and standard of innovative and creative living that our potential residents will come to expect. This area will be connected to the main front garden and coffee shop to complete the total streetscape aspect that will be achieved. This is a major improvement for residents and an important commitment by the Board of the facility.
